Events, Newsroom   /

Oz Poster_Frodelius_adhesive_editPresented by the International Wizard of Oz Club, Inc. and the Manlius Library of Central New York, “Oz: A Visual Celebration” is an exhibition of original artwork created in celebration of author L. Frank Baum, Oz literature, and MGM’s The Wizard of Oz. The exhibition, which opened on May 12, was organized in conjunction with the 36th annual Oz-Stravaganza!, to be held June 5-8 in Chittenango, New York. The exhibition closes on June 8.

L. Frank Baum’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was written in 1900 and quickly became one of the country’s bestselling children’s books. It was eventually translated into several foreign languages and gained worldwide popularity. The 1939 MGM film took the world of Oz to new popularity when the song “Over the Rainbow,” sung by Judy Garland as Dorothy, became a national sensation. This year celebrates the 75th anniversary of the film.

The Manlius Library of Central New York will be hosting Oz-themed events throughout the month of May. For more information, click here.
