DESCRIPTION:The Wizard of Paws\, or There’s No Place Like a Furever Home comes to the Englewood Arts stage April 14 – April 23 \nMartin City Melodrama has hit the road in a trip to Independence\, Missouri\, with an original musical melodrama. This trip to Emerald City takes Dorothy\, the dog rescuer\, down the yellow brick road to face the dog catcher of the West. Along with her familiar friends\, The Scarecrow\, The Tinman\, and The Lion\, this animal-loving group returns to Kansas to open the first dog shelter in the state of Kansas! \nWritten and directed by Jeanne Beechwood and songs by Jon Copeland\, this magical retelling of the Oz story features actors with unique abilities\, community performers\, and their children. Pawformers are senior dogs rescued from KC Pet Project\, Melissa’s Second Chances\, Wayside Waifs\, Gladstone Animal Shelter\, Midwest Animal ResQ\, and Angel’s Furever Senior Dog Rescue. \nPerformances are set for April 14\, 15\, 16\, 21\, and 23. DESCRIPTION:The Conductor Club in Kansas City’s historic Union Station currently features a Wizard of Oz-themed “Emerald City” pop-up bar through May 15. Find your table in front of Munchkinland or the Haunted Forest. Better yet\, wander deep into the bar for seating in the Wizard’s Throne Room. Ozzy Cocktails can be complemented with sharable small bites from Pierpont’s restaurant on the lower level of the Station — another Kansas City classic. \nThis intimate space seats 40 people and frequently sells out. Reservations are recommended.  Emerald City is open Thursdays 5-10 pm and Saturday/Sunday 5pm-Midnight. \nFYI\, come prepared to negotiate detours as the station prepares to host the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft.
