DESCRIPTION:Preempted from freeFall Theatre Company’s 19/20 season\, OZ a new world-premiere musical\, takes the stage June 2. The original production will reportedly “explore the genius of L. Frank Baum and his complicated relationship with his most famous creation\, the Land of Oz.”  The announcement goes on to say\, “This is the story of a dreamer at the dawn of a new age who reinvented the fairy tale in a distinctly American way\, painting an idealized and magical vision of a world where witches might be good\, and what you’re seeking is already inside you.” \nOZ stars David Foley\, Jr. (Broadway National Tour of The Phantom of the Opera)\, Melissa Minyard (Broadway’s Les Miserables) and Drew H. Wells (freeFall debut!). Tampa Bay favorite Roxanne Fay is Matilda Joslyn Gage with Elizabeth Meckler (American Stage’s Ragtime) as Dorothy.  freeFall’s artistic director Eric Davis and resident music director Michael Raabe have been collaborating for more than a decade on re-imagined productions of classics The Pirates of Penzance\, Peter Pan\, War of the Worlds and the interactive walkthrough experience\, The Rose and The Beast. OZ marks the longtime collaborators first original work together with Raabe writing music and lyrics and Davis writing the book and additional lyrics. \nBook tickets here Tickets range from $45 – $55. freeFall matinees are always at 2pm and evening performances are always at 7pm. \nPreviews are June 2 at 7pm and June 3 at 2pm. Groups of 10 or more will receive a 20% discount on tickets. DESCRIPTION:Join OzCon International for three days of Ozzy fun and programming at the beautiful Kellogg West Conference Center on the Cal-Poly campus in Pomona\, California. Near three major airports (Ontario\, John Wayne\, and LAX) atop a wooded hill with lovely views\, this site can feel almost like Oz itself! \nOur 2023 theme is Oz in Animaton; we will be exploring how animators in the last century have depicted Oz\, from cel animation to CGI. We will also celebrate the centennial anniversary of Ruth Plumly Thompson’s 1923 book\, The Cowardly Lion of Oz\, featuring unique characters such as Notta Bit More and Bob Up. \nLeading our line of guest speakers are members of the production team from “Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz”. This animated series combines elements of both the MGM movie and the original book series to introduce a new generation to Oz. DESCRIPTION:Follow the yellow brick road… follow the yellow brick road… right to Vandergrift\, Pennsylvania\, for an epic installment of the Vandergrift Artfest\, a popular annual event that draws visitors from all over the state and beyond. This free art festival promises a jam-packed day of fun for festival-goers of all ages. \n\n\nThe July 30\, 2023\, Vandergrift Artfest embraces this year’s theme\, “Beyond the Yellow Brick Road.” All things Oz will fill the yellow brick road of downtown Vandergrift. Artists and crafters will fill the streets\, along with local businesses and non-profits. A wide array of food delights will be offered by food trucks and vendors. A main stage and second stage area will bring live music throughout the entire festival. Special activities will be offered for children and families\, and we will showcase our local young dancers\, too. New this year will be an art show for those who wish to showcase their talents.
