Douglas and David Greene, identical twins, were charter members of the International Wizard of Oz Club. Pioneers in Baum and Oz research and bibliography, they contributed numerous articles to The Baum Bugle. The brothers built an extraordinary collection of Oz and Baum material that was eventually sold at auction, including an outstanding collection of foreign Oz books.

David served as editor-in-chief of The Baum Bugle for several years, during which time he expanded the scope, size, and scholarly quality of the magazine. Later, he established the Special Publications Program, a vital new service to members. In 1977 he and Dick Martin wrote The Oz Scrapbook. This rich and exciting compilation revealed the breadth and variety of Oz in its many manifestations throughout America and beyond.

In 1976, Doug and Peter Hanff published Bibliographia Oziana, inspired by the bibliographical articles in the Bugle. With Michael Patrick Hearn, Doug also wrote the biography W. W. Denslow, published by Central Michigan University’s Clarke Historical Library in 1976.
