Eloise McGraw was an award-winning novelist for many years, garnering notice from the Newbery Awards Committee of the American Library Association on several occasions. Among her most popular works are Pharaoh; Mara, Daughter of the Nile; The Moorchild; The Golden Goblet; The Seventeenth Swap; and Moccasin Trail. Most of her work was written for a teenage or young-adult audience, although her books are enjoyed by readers of all ages. Eloise was a keen observer of human experience and awareness, and developed her books to emphasize character in challenging situations.

Most Oz enthusiasts know Eloise and her daughter Lynn as co-authors of Merry Go Round in Oz, which was the 40th Oz book and the last one published by Reilly & Lee. Some years later, this mother-daughter team provided the Oz Club’s Special Publications Program with The Forbidden Fountain of Oz, which, like Merry Go Round in Oz, was illustrated by Dick Martin.

Lauren Lynn McGraw, in addition to her writings, is also an accomplished artist.
