Stephen J. Teller has been indefatigable in his unwavering devotion to the Oz Club and its publications and programs for decades. He has contributed nearly 100 book and media reviews for The Baum Bugle, as well as research papers on Oz apocrypha, Oz in Russia, the Junior League and Samuel French Oz and Baum plays, and The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. As review editor of the Bugle from 1987 to 1997, Steve encouraged both veteran and fledgling journalists to contribute reviews. He was instrumental in the publication of Invisible Inzi of Oz and Kenneth Baum’s The Dinamonster of Oz. Steve donated scores of hours to read, review, and judge manuscripts submitted to the Oz Research Table at conventions and for the Club’s centennial Oz book contest. Having regularly attended each of the Club’s conventions and frequently participated in their programs, Steve is well known as an eminent “Quizzard of Oz.” He chaired both the 1995 and 2008 Ozmopolitan Conventions, and has served on the Club’s Board of Directors. After 43 years of service, Steve retired from the English Department of Pittsburg State University in Kansas. Fortunately for those in the Oz Club who appreciate his fine service, he is not retiring from them!
