While I have to give props to Denslow for the being the original and Neill for having the longest run, I have to admit that the Anton Loeb illustrations have the most special place in my heart. My grandma used to read me the 1950s Random House storybook almost daily. She read it to her kids when they were little and it eventually got passed down to me. I think I probably saw these versions even before Denslow.
