I saw a thread on Patrick Quigley’s Facebook page today that the first place he saw the silent Baum Oz movies was in a local specialty theater back in the mid-1980s. They did all of them in a day like a mini-festival. I was in middle school with some (bootlegger?) made them available on 8 mm film strips. That was the size that fit our home movie projector, so I snapped them up. I still have them although I haven’t been doing anything special to protect their condition so no telling what shape they’re in. The next times I ever saw them would have been at Club conventions. How about you? Anyone else ever see them in a theater?
