I have! I prefer to keep my Oz light, with Gregory Maguire’s books being an exception which I think of more as moody. Dorothy Must Die for me falls into the “Dark Oz” category. That being said, it’s pretty well done and utilizes Baum’s Oz universe with lots of characters and locales from the entire series. I read two other books in the series but did not finish. Someday I’ll go back. If you like YA and like a darker, more dangerous Oz, you’ll enjoy these books! The covers are wonderful.
I’m halfway through the first book. It can be jarring to read about our beloved characters taking such a dark turn.
I have read the first of the prequel novellas too, which I liked better and did help set up how Dorothy got on the wrong path.
