The Winter 2021 Baum Bugle has been printed and is heading to be shipped! Members should anticipate 1-2 weeks for delivery.
This issue we’re honoring 100 years of Ruth Plumly Thompson as a Royal Historian of Oz! We’ll examine the transition from the beloved author L. Frank Baum to a witty young Philadelphia writer who was hired to write an Oz book as her very first novel.
“The Royal Book of Oz” was the first of almost two decades of Oz books from Thompson’s pen, and we’ll look at what inspired it and how it has inspired others. We’ll have a little poetry, a little Pigasus, some comic bears, and lots of fun—plus a special pull-out present for the musically inclined.
Ending your holiday or starting your new year – we hope this issue brings you a little light in these dark winter months. 🙂
I have to say, I completely devoured this issue. As you know, I’m not a huge Plumly fan; however, reading about how she came to be a Royal Historian and how it was handled in press was fascinating. I also really enjoyed Garrett’s retrospective on the themes of ROYAL BOOK.
