“My Father was ‘The Wizard of Oz'”: Memories and Anecdotes of a Famous Father (Part 1)

The first half of an unpublished article by Harry Neal Baum, L. Frank Baum’s third son, based on a lecture he gave twice in 1961. In it, he describes various adventures of his father up to the publication of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in 1900. This article would be concluded in the Winter 1985 issue.

A New Illustrator—and Late Visitor—in Oz

John Fricke interviews Michael Herring, the artist tasked with providing new cover art for Del Rey’s paperback reprints of the Baum and Thompson Oz books.

Oz Under Scrutiny: The Scarecrow of Oz, Rinkitink in Oz, The Lost Princess of Oz, The Tin Woodman of Oz, The Magic of Oz, and Glinda of Oz

The editors look at reviews of L. Frank Baum’s ninth through fourteenth Oz books contemporary with their original publication. These brief selections would be greatly expanded in centenary issues between 2015 and 2020. Includes vintage advertising.
