Justin G. Schiller welcomes the sixteen original members of the International Wizard of Oz Club (whose names are all listed on the final page), describing his intent for the Club and entreating readers to submit ideas, want lists, “or what have you.”

.Frank J. Baum, the eldest son of L. Frank Baum, writes to accept the title of Honorary President and share memories of his famous father.

 

A Few Words from Our Chairman

Martin Gardner suggests to readers that the new Baum Bugle is part of a “growing ground swell” to fight against the prevailing public view that the Oz books are not good literature. He also offers a small tribute to the late author, Jack Snow.
