May 1959 Selected Contents

This is a guide to the articles and reviews from the issue that will most benefit researchers, scholars, and collectors. The printed issue includes additional content such as news, editorial letters, and other commentary-based departments.

Oz Geozgraphy (Lesson 1)

Robert R. Pattrick documents the locations of the Land of Oz before moving on to its surrounding countries. The first installment of this article was published in the May 1959 issue, and it would conclude in Christmas 1960.

Breakfast—The Bananny Goat of Oz

An original Oz poem by Ruth Plumly Thompson.

A Murder in Oz (Part 2)

An original and “ghostly” Oz story by Jack Snow, in which the apparent murder of Princess Ozma must be solved—with surprising results. This is the second installment of a serialization that began in the October 1958 issue.

Too Many Wizards (Part 1)

Justin G. Schiller begins a multi-issue look at historical editions of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, beginning with the original edition in 1900. This feature would eventually conclude in Christmas 1960. A correction for this specific installment was later printed in the August 1959 issue.
