Spring 2004 Selected Contents
This is a guide to the articles and reviews from the issue that will most benefit researchers, scholars, and collectors. The printed issue includes additional content such as news, editorial letters, and other commentary-based departments.
A Revised and Expanded Oz Filmography (Part 1)
Scott Andrew Hutchins and Marc Berezin compile an entirely new guide to Oz and Oz-related films, television, and video presentations, in an attempt to present the best data possible. Each entry features full credits but little to no description. This work is based on the checklists by Marc Lewis in the Winter 1983 and Winter 1993 issues, but the scope has changed to remove tangential works and include non-Oz works with special significance (such as the other films of the Oz Film Manufacturing Company). The checklist ends in the year 2000, but Part 2 was apparently never published.
Are You a Good Ruler or a Bad Ruler? An Inquiry into the Quality of Ozma’s Governance
David Hulan considers whether or not Ozma is actually as good a monarch as her subjects claim, using evidence from the Baum books. He uncovers incidents of cowboy diplomacy, irresponsible governance, and more.
