Dorothy: An Interview and Examination
Marcus Mébès and Jeff Rester interview the crew behind the new comic book Dorothy, including creator Greg Mannino, writer Mark Masterson, and actor Catie Fisher. The comic uses photographs and digital art to retell the familiar Oz story with a modern teenager.
J. L. Bell looks at Baum’s characterization of Dorothy as a bold adventure-seeker, and even dangerous to those who oppose her, starkly in contrast to her portrayal in the famous MGM movie.
Anna Laughlin Speaks Out
An interview with Anna Laughlin, originator of the role of Dorothy in the 1902 musical extravaganza, reprinted from a newspaper ca. August 1925. Accompanied by an introduction from Sean P. Duffley.
In Memoriam
Additional tributes to Fred Meyer (Secretary, the Oz Club, 1957–96). Also: Cynthia Baum Tassini (niece of L. Frank Baum).
