Winter 2003 Selected Contents
This is a guide to the articles and reviews from the issue that will most benefit researchers, scholars, and collectors. The printed issue includes additional content such as news, editorial letters, and other commentary-based departments.
The Wonderful Mother of Oz
Sally Roesch Wagner tours the Matilda Joslyn Gage House in Fayetteville, New York, telling stories of Frank and Maud’s courtship, Matilda’s influence on the young family, and how Matilda’s beliefs, including theosophy and vegetarianism, found their way into Frank’s stories. A variation on this article, focused more closely on Matilda’s home, was published as “The Wonderful Home of Oz” in Spring 2009.
The Real Jenny Jump
Atticus Gannaway finds the inspiration for John R. Neill’s protagonist, Jenny Jump, in the town of Hope, New Jersey.
